As general manager of Daniel Boulud’s Theatre District bistro, Allysun Redmond enjoys interacting with guests and empowering the people she works with. Perceived as a thoughtful and agile leader, she has the innate ability to relate with different individuals and their personalities.
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Allysun worked in various restaurants as a way to earn money during her studies. Having always had a passion for writing, she graduated with a degree in English Literature from University of Tennessee, followed by a master’s degree in Humanities and Social Thought from New York University. However, like her father, a salesman, Allysun always thrived in customer service roles. After having been offered a promotion by the owner of a restaurant, she began to consider a future in management. For Allysun, what started as a summer job was now becoming a lifelong hospitality career.
During a six year period, Allysun was the general manager at Casellula Cheese and Wine Café. Essentially making the role her own, she curated superior customer service experiences and applied her writing skills by creating the entire manager handbook. Later on, at Marlow & Sons and Diner, she managed two restaurants with separate teams simultaneously.
In October 2017, Allysun joined the db bistro moderne family as assistant general manager. Less than a year later, she was promoted to general manager. From the way she works with vendors to the way she trains her staff and caters to customer needs, Allysun ensures this industry remains both a food and people business.
